About Us
Andrew Taylor-Gerloch is the new chef extrodinaire at the acclaimed Aird Uig Bonaventure Restaurant. He and his partner Sarah purchased the award-winning business and associated Bed and Breakfast in June 2006. Despite the full-on distractions of new parenthood (baby Elliot arrived two-months after them), they claim it's the best thing they have ever done.
Since taking over at Bonaventure, Andrew and Sarah have been busy refurbishing the building and adding their own touches. The restaurant has been revamped - comfortable sofas set snugly around a log-stove, with new slate floors and neutral tones picking up light flooding from the seascape below. In addition, the Bed and Breakfast accomodation has seen a stylish update. Sarah's inspired landscape photography now adorns the walls, joining a tasteful selection of work by local artists.
Coming straight from 'high-pressure' jobs in the South East (they met as employees of shaving company Gillette), the couple are well used to juggling several balls at a time. But learning the ropes in a new environment, and tending to a new-born, has been an eye-opener.

To us, Gallan Head and the Bonaventure is the realisation of a dream! We wanted to live somewhere amazing, where we could be absorbed by the ever-changing sea, and bring up our son Elliot in a great community.
We found it all here, and have loved developing the Bonaventure, creating a wonderful experience for our customers.
Andrew has always loved food. In his spare time he likes nothing better than getting absorbed in cookery books (he reads them like others read novels) and getting creative in our kitchen at home.
Sarah is often found out on the hills or down by the sea, in 'stretching poses' with her camera, trying to get just the right angle for that shot.
Together we love exploring the island and the rest of the world, and with wee Elliot everything is an adventure!
